The village is divided into historical and cultural zones where tourists can learn linked traditions of Tofalar, Buryat, Evenk and Russian people. They are indigenous tribes of the Baikal region and Siberia.

Many years ago the ancestors of modern Buryats were nomadic people engaged in cattle breeding. They built yurts – temporary dwellings, as well as other outbuildings. One particular interest is the exposition “The House of the Shaman”.

Evenk people are the native inhabitants of Siberia engaged in reindeer husbandry. In Taltsy a village was reconstructed wherein tourists can see a tent made of logs and bark, labaz (a warehouse for storing food), devices for drying, fishing nets and so much more.

Taltsy Activities

Taltsy museum offers a unique opportunity to test your skills in various crafts. Choose a master class to your liking: a blacksmith, a joiner, a tanner, a potter or even a doll master! The cost of classes varies from 200 to 2000 roubles.
Entrance fee to the Museum “Taltsy”: adults — 300, kids — 50 roubles.
Working hours: 10:00 am-5:00 pm, daily, seven days a week.

How to get to Taltsy

Taltsy village is situated a bit closer to Irkutsk than Listvyanka. There is no problem to get to the village for 40 minutes.

The way by car takes about 30-40 minutes.

Taxi service costs 900 roubles in one way.

It is very easy to reach the village by public transport. Get a seat in a minibus on the Central market and ask the driver to stop in Taltsy. Do not be shy, local drivers always stop in Taltsy by requirement. At the beginning of your route say “Taltsy” to the driver, that is all! The fare is 120 roubles, and the journey time from Irkutsk is about 40 minutes.
