Every year thousands of tourists visit the peak. The climbing route is safe and does not require special climbing equipment (but we recommend putting on good shoes). The trail from Slyudyanka to the peak of Cherskiy has great landscape diversity. Here you will see rocky cliffs, lakes, and numerous noisy mountain streams.

How to navigate in Slyudyanka

So, at first, you need to come to the city of Slyudyanka. Then walk in the opposite direction from Baikal, along the small river also called Slyudyanka. Your goal is a Slyudyanaya street. This street leads to the trail you need.

We recommend you divide your trip into two days to have enough time to enjoy the local views. The first part of the route is the trail from Slyudyanka to the meteorological station. Usually, tourists go from this point to the other sights like Heart lake, waterfalls on the river Podkomarnaya, Devil’s Gate, or Chekanowskiy Peak. On the next day climb to the Peak and then go on to discover the local area. Be sure to visit the Heart Lake – a lake in the shape of a heart!

The 2 hours journey costs about 2000 rubles.
Every hour buses and minibuses take off from Irkutsk Bus Station. The ticket price is 250 rubles, the road takes 2 hours.
Tourists can reach Slyudyanka by train and electric train also. Train ticket price is 400-700 rubles (price depends on kind of wagon) and electric train ticket for 200 rubles. The route will take 3 hours in both variants.
